About the Author
Andrew has long held an interest in local history, and since setting up home in the former Wolsingham National School building in 2011, he has taken an interest in the history of the town. As well as researching the history of his home, he has set up a local history Facebook group to gather memories from former employees of Wolsingham Steelworks which was the principal employer in the town from 1864 to 1988. The purpose of this is to pull together sufficient material for an exhibition based on the former site. Andrew is an active member of the community, being an elected Trustee and Chairman of Wolsingham Wayfarers - a registered Charity aimed at encouraging visitors to the area, and encouraging everyone to take up walking for the health and wellbeing benefits. He is also a volunteer for a local charity which helps blind and physically disabled people to participate in sports.
In his spare time, Andrew likes walking, following Bradford City Football Club, and producing fine-line portraits for which he has won a number of awards.
'Through The Eyes of a School' is the first book published by Wolsingham-based author Andrew Marshall.
